On May 21–22, 2025, research managers from MTF (Faculty of Material Science) and CEP (Centre of European projects) of the Slovak University of Technology in Bratislava (STUBA) visited the University of Twente (UTwente) in the Netherlands for a two-day study visit focused on research support services, project management, and knowledge transfer.
The program was jointly prepared by UTwente’s Strategic Business Development unit, Grants Office, and Project Management Office. The visit provided participants with a comprehensive look into the internal support systems that UTwente uses to manage EU-funded projects, promote knowledge valorisation, and empower researchers in proposal development.
Exchange with the Grants Office
The STUBA delegation met with UTwente’s Grants Office and Project Management Office teams to explore internal processes related to proposal development, organizational workflows, and pre-award support services.
Knowledge Transfer at UTwente
The team had the opportunity to learn about UTwente’s approach to knowledge transfer, hosted by Roy Kolkman, Head of the Knowledge Transfer Office.
Soft Skills for Proposal Success
Miroslav Konečný (ADDSEN) delivered practical soft skills training to the STUBA delegation and members of UTwente’s Grants Office. The sessions focused on preparing winning project concepts, recording project ideas, and effective pitching.
Project Management and Erasmus+ Funding
UTwente introduced STUBA participants to opportunities under the Erasmus+ programme, as part of UTwente’s Week of Education. This session provided an overview of funding opportunities through the programme Erasmus+ for both researchers and staff.
The visit helped build a foundation for continued collaboration and mutual learning between UTwente and STUBA, with a focus on EU funding, innovation support, and international project development. STUBA returned with valuable insights into UTwente’s internal systems, practical tools, and strategic approaches in project management and support for researchers.
